Partial Hospital Program

Partial Hospital Program is Open
This short-term intensive outpatient service remains open and available to those who need it! St. Vincent’s Westchester is closely following state and local guidance regarding protecting our patients and staff during the COVID-19 pandemic, including restricting visitors from our inpatient units, and doing temperature screenings and providing face masks for everyone who enters the Harrison campus. We are offering flexible treatment options such as telehealth visits and virtual group therapy, while continuing to the extent possible, on-site treatment using appropriate social distancing. Please contact our evaluation and referral service by phone at (914) 925-5320 for admission information.

The Partial Hospital Program serves adolescents and adults who need intensive short-term treatment to address acute psychiatric difficulties. The program is designed to prevent inpatient psychiatric hospitalization or re-hospitalizations and to help the individual transition back to their life in the community. Treatment begins with a comprehensive evaluation. An individualized treatment plan is developed, and each patient is assigned to both a therapist and a psychiatrist. Our treatment philosophy is to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care focused on crisis resolution.

The adult program is open from Monday through Friday from 9:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. Treatment services include group therapy, individual and family therapy, medication management, and discharge planning. The therapeutic groups address such topics as goal setting, development of coping strategies, reduction of symptoms, understanding medication, and improvement of social and family communication and relationships. Substance use disorders are common in people with psychiatric conditions, and the program includes a daily group for patients with these co-occurring disorders. For more information, please call (914) 925-5435.

The adolescent program offers short-term intensive treatment for adolescents with serious emotional and behavioral problems. The program has a school component and prepares the adolescents to return to their regular school. Program hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.,during the school year and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., during the summer. Treatment services include group therapy for social, behavioral, and emotional rehabilitation; individual and family therapy; medication management; discharge and aftercare planning; and educational tutoring during the school year. The therapeutic groups address such topics as social skills, family issues, stress and anger management, coping skills, and symptom and medication management.
