For those whose level of alcohol or other substance dependence has seriously disrupted their daily functioning, our inpatient rehabilitation program assists individuals in overcoming barriers to recovery. The inpatient rehabilitation program helps patients deal with the issues of early recovery. Patients are taught to recognize the signs and symptoms of the illness, how to manage emotions and stress, and how to recognize triggers to drinking and drug use and relapse. The program provides short-term, structured, intensive treatment of physical and emotional symptoms as well as detoxification when medically necessary. All patients receive thorough aftercare counseling and referral for continuing treatment on an outpatient basis following the completion of the inpatient stay. Click here for more information.
St. Vincent's chemical dependency programs offers medication-assisted treatment to support the recovery process. In conjunction with participation in a counseling program, medications such as suboxone and naltrexone have been shown to reduce the euphoric effects of opioids such as heroin, to reduce cravings and to ease or eliminate withdrawal symptoms.
