Opioid Treatment Services
St. Vincent's offers comprehensive treatment services for opioid addiction at centers in Brooklyn, Queens and Westchester County. Our multidisciplinary treatment teams provide individualized care in a supportive environment where treatment staff are sensitive to the specific needs of persons with a history of substance abuse. The New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) requires a patient to have used heroin for at least one year and be over 18 years of age. Patients are referred from other programs, the court, and Riker's Island. Walk-in clients are also accepted in treatment. Our treatment centers provide the following services:
- Pharmacotherapy using methadone
- Medical management, including physical examination, monitoring and follow-up
- Nursing services, including health teaching, health screening, urine screening, symptom education, etc.
- HIV/AIDS services, including education, testing, primary medical care, follow-up, referral, etc.
- Assessment and treatment planning
- Counseling
- Relapse prevention
- Case management
